WSW Concert November 4!

The fall is already crazy-busy here. My my first concert at NVOT is Thursday, November 1 at 8:00 pm in the NVOT Auditorium. And my first concert with the Westchester Symphonic Winds is coming up on Sunday, November 4 at 3:00 pm at Tarrytown Music Hall. I’m especially excited about the WSW season, as this is our 25th Anniversary season, and we have amazing plans!

The Fall Concert is subtitled, “New Beginnings,” and features fresh new works for wind band by young and established composers. The concert features:
Balmages – Raging Machines

Quayle – Echoes of July
Grantham – Spangled Heavens
Cross – Let the Amen Sound
Gulino – The Quest for Elysium
Saint-Saëns – Morceau de Concert; MSgt Troy Messner, horn
Hearshen – After “The Thunderer;” Jeff Grogan, guest conductor
Markowski – Turkey in the Straw
Go to the Music Hall box office site for tickets for this concert only, or to www.seatyourself.biz/westchestersymphonicwinds to buy discounted season tickets.
I am also very proud of this year’s NVOT “Golden Knights” Marching Band. The 2012 show is a “mashup” of Holst’s Mars and Jupiter, from The Planets and Crazy Little Thing Called Love and Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. Weird, yes! Exciting, very! I don’t usually do this, but take a look at the performance this past Friday evening at DePaul HS. Conditions were perfect: a quiet crowd, access to the press box on the 50 yard line, and an energized performance. I shot this with my iPhone and a fish-eye lens. I recommend clicking the “Full Screen” icon in the lower right corner to maximize the view.
Enjoy — and I hope to see you on November 4 in Tarrytown.
