Best wishes for the holiday
I hope everyone had a spectacular Thanksgiving Day yesterday. This past Sunday, Mike and Pat Haake picked up my mother, Helen, in Lititz and met me in Allentown, so I didn’t have to drive 8 hours in one day. Mom has been here all week, and we’ve had a wonderful time. She went with me to my Westchester Symphonic Winds rehearsal on Monday. Tim made a fantastic Thanksgiving turkey and trimmings yesterday. It was the first time in 31 years (except for 1989, when I was on sabbatical) that I did not spend the morning and afternoon at school for a football game and marching band performance (the league has changed and eliminated the Turkey Day game). And today, she came with me to school while I printed playbills and rehearsed for the All-School Musical 50th Anniversary Gala tomorrow night. After the Gala, my cousin, Tom Ebersole, will meet us on Sunday, to help me with transportation on the way back to Lititz.
I am grateful this year for my family’s health and safety, especially since Hurricane Sandy. If you were affected, our thoughts and prayers are with you. Please let me know about your situation post-Sandy.

50th Anniversary All-School Musical Gala
There are still tickets available for tomorrow evening’s epic Gala event. 150 alumni, from the Classes of the 1960’s through today, will be performing. Eighteen musical numbers, representing one sextet, one quintet, one quartet, one trio, three duets, eight solos, and three large ensemble numbers will span the 50 years of musical produced at NVOT from 1963 to 2012.
The event begins at 7:00 pm, and your ticket includes an elegant reception which follows for everyone in the North Gym. Tickets for remaining seats are still available online at www.seatyourself.biz/nvotmusical.
This project is nothing like anything every produced at NVOT. The time and organization required to contact and communicate with the alumni staggers my mind. John Housley has designed an event that will bring people together from across decades. Shari Bernstein has organized a committee of parents and alumni who have transformed the North Gym into an elegant reception hall. Purchase tickets before it’s too late! If you are a member of the NVOT community, I hope to see you there.
