WSW Winter Concert

Paycheck shrinking? Temperatures falling? Gas prices rising? Snowstorm oncoming? Maybe you need some favorite things to perk you up!

This Sunday afternoon, February 10, at 3:00 pm, I will be conducting the Westchester Symphonic Winds’ Winter Concert, Our Favorite Things. The program is fun, challenging, and includes standards, new works, and brilliant guest artists.

Our guest conductor is Dr. Emily Threinen, the dynamic conductor of the Temple University Wind Symphony. Our soloists include Master Sgt. Bill Owens, associate principal trumpet of the West Point Band, and three members of our own flute section: Debra Dashnaw, Rachel Eckhaus, and Marge Hone. And our own Assistant Conductor, Matthew Kowalski, will also take the podium.

The program includes favorite works selected by the ensemble members themselves, including those by Shostakovich, Hindemith, Sousa, Schuman, Bellini, Ticheliand more. And Grainger’s iconic Lincolnshire Posy is also featured.

Concert details and ticket information can be found at www.tarrytownmusichall.org.

If you live in the tri-state area, I hope you’ll plan to dig yourself out and come to the Tarrytown Music Hall for this wonderful program. I hope to see you there!
